We all want to encourage our students to do their best but if you have no specialist training in the area of positive resilience are you sure the advice you are giving your students is both helpful and accurate ? Being happy and and being positive are different For example telling someone to "cheer up" or "put on a happy face" is not always motivating and in fact can make someone who does not have that nature feel as if there is something wrong with them because they don't naturally "put on a happy face" From a technical point of view only 35% of people are born genitically upbeat so there is a strong chance of alienating 65% of people by telling them to cheer up. Whilst only around one third of people are genitically upbeat, everyone can learn how to have a positive focus and this is one of the important distinctions this course teaches - that being happy and being positive focused are two different conditions. It is a fact though that if your students learn how to live through a positive focus they will gain a whole new level of control in their life, they will enjoy longer and stronger realtionships and can even live up to ten years longer. Confidence is a formula not a mystery Confidence is another area that is widely misunderstood and young people generally base their idea of confidence in the way the media represent confident people. These superhumans are very outgoing, seem to be good at everything and it apparently only takes the time of a montage in a movie to go from being a novice to becoming an absolute expert. In reality being confident has nothing to do with having a firm handshake and looking someone straight in the eye and in fact that trait on it's own is the first skill a "confidence trickster" (con man) learns to convince people of their ability or knowledge. After studying probably over one thousand entrepreneurs we have found that some of the most nervous, shy, awkward people in the world have achieved great things simply because they have abided by the laws of confidence and we show your students the formula required to be confident in anything if they choose to be. Happiness can be influenced but not controlled This session shows the areas that affect our happiness and the fact that we don't have control over half the major influencers of our happiness. It also shows your students some habits they can use to have more influence over their happiness. Creating a vision of the ideal person or Better Self How many of your students have defined their ideal or better self and really focused and compared their behaviour to that image ? This session shows them how to have a reference point for their ideal behaviour so that even if they go off track they can focus back on the ideal way they wish to be. "Losing it" is not caused by a million different things This session shows that "losing it" (getting angry and upset) is not caused by a whole lot of different things but is always caused by only one fundamental reason.
